A local auction has a New Haven Classic Super Grade in 270, six digit serial number G365XXX. The barrel is marked Classic Super Grade, but the floor plate is unmarked (is that a problem?). The stock is obviously a super grade with high-grade wood, two screw inletted sling bases and a black Winchester marked buttpad. I like the looks of the rifle, but don't want to get caught in the auction craze. What year is the rifle (I'm guessing 2001-2002?)? What is a fair price? Thanks!

You are correct on year. Should bring 950-1100 depending on condition.

This is a 7-digit '06, but will provide some indication. Yours should bring slightly higher due to 6-digit s#. It too, is absent SG-marked floorplate.
