I used to own that rifle, it’s a small world apparently, I checked his feedback to double check and sure enough it was mine once, the stock used to be black and 13.25” lop, I didn’t own it long wasn’t for me.

Thank you, no.

I had a 300 win Nula several years ago but much prefer my current 30-06 ula.

Light magnum rifles are much more fun to carry than they are to shoot.

I bought a lefty Forbes in 7/08 a year or so back from a nice gentleman in PA, when I was trying to do some research on it I stumbled on a thread where you were selling one, I wonder if it’s the same one, mine looks identical to the one you had, I’m not sure how many Forbes LH 7/08 there was. I sent it back to Melvin and had him paint the stock and shorten the LOP to 13.5”.

Yes, that is the same rifle and I instantly regretted selling it. I have since acquired a 7-08 Nula and purchased a 30-06 and 257r from the same gentleman in PA. Let me know if you have any questions on the Forbes. I spend a lot of the year in Upstate NY, not sure where you are but that rifle would be great for the Adirondacks.

My first ULA rifle was a 300WSM lefty. I shot one elk and a couple deer with 180gr Partions but have since changed to 165gr BT bullets.

Killed a couple doe with it this past fall. I really like the gun and with those bullets it's a pussy cat.......

For the folks who have had heavy mag NULA/ULA’s, what did ya’ll think of the recoil in comparison to other rifles? Know the general perception is ultralights and big bore mags equal hella-headaches and loose teeth. Also know stock design has a lot to do with it, and was talking to Melvin about it a bit. He was saying his stock design really takes the felt recoil. He made a rifle in 375H&H for Brenda Potterfield (midwayusa) that she’s used on a few hunts and handles the recoil great.

I used a 300WSM ULA for my first plains game Safari in Zimbabwe. I shot 180g Barnes hand loads. Recoil wasn’t bad and it was very accurate. I’ve since traded it for a 300WM. Don’t notice any difference on game or recoil.

I've got a ULA 300 Win Mag and it jumps pretty good when shooting of the bench but you never feel it in the field. I shoot 165 TTSX Barnes factory. I also have a 300 WSM Kimber Montana that I also use 165 TTSX and it has less felt recoil from the bench.

I had a HS Precision 300WSM that I further lightened to around 5 14 naked.
It was horrendous to shoot, sold it here to a collector and the buyer quickly emailed me with the same conclusion. I'm sure it's a safe queen at this point.

It was a gorgeous rifle but was literally painful to shoot. I'll never own another magnum lightweight.
Never.

I have Model 28's in .270 Wby and .338 Win. I'm not particularly fond of recoil, but I find the recoil to be very manageable because of the stock design.
