It looks like Ruger has produced a limited run of their Hawkeye rifle in .300 win mag and 6.5 CM in a stainless steel barreled action, threaded 24” barrels with walnut stocks. They are starting to pop up on the auction sites. Around a $1k but some are proud and in the $1,400 range. Just passing it along for someone who is interested.

Why does it always have to be boring chamberings?

Stainless/walnut rifles flip my switch. A threaded 6.5 would be nice, but not at scalper prices.

Also a stainless/walnut Hawkeye LH version in 450 Bushmaster. That is through the dealer in Michigan that has ordered several 450 variants direct from Ruger.

When was it? Maybe 5-6 years ago Ruger announced no more left hand stainless rifles?
I see they had a change of heart. Wished they would make a run of 'unusual' calibers like the 338 WM. Or something in the new Nosler lineup.

Some of these special runs are exclusives through distributors or dealers that buy a certain number to get Ruger to produce them. That's how the lefty stainless Americans came about.

They no doubt still have the LH Hawkeye (and probably American) actions, or at least the setup to make them easily.

Their focus is on making what sells quickly, so they aren't going to just make a bunch of left hand guns and have them sit on shelves for years.

For us into Mauser type CRF actioned rifles, it has become slim pickings indeed. Especially in a stainless steel action. We don’t have a big enough audience to expect all caliber wishes to be met.

I look at a rifle’s ability to be altered to a chambering of my liking. Usually a barrel change or a rebore by JES in Oregon as an easy fix. Sell the old barrel to recoup some of the cost. For some actions the bolt head can be opened from standard to magnum case head dimensions. I think we as lefties have to dish out a little dough to get what we want if we want it bad enough.

Glad I have what I need. A few 30-06's, 338win, 338RCM, 375ruger, and a 270win and 243win, a few 308win. I'm set and I don't need anything else.

I think Ruger is a bit gun shy to have as many LH rifles in their cataloged offerings as they used to. They'll build some if there's a substantial order from a distributor, but remember a few years ago when they liquidated a pile of leftys through CDNN. I'm sure that left a bad taste in their mouth to go down that road again. Wish I would've bought several more stainless American compacts @ $299!

I'm in the same boat but I've only got a 30/06 & a 22 LR. Both LH bolt actions.

I picked up a Lefty 338 RCM for $499 during that sale. Probably the last rifle in my collection I would ever sell. Also own a 300 RCM but didn’t pick it up as cheap as the 338.

I picked up several from CDNN LH RAR 223 SS, & RH SS 223, LH SS 7-08 RAR & LH Blue RAR 7-08 Several LH Hawkeyes 376 Ruger, 338 RCM, 06 & 270. Kept a few. Have to buy them when they are available. Usually about 2 years it seems with Ruger.

A savage fan, partly because of cost, and they have all shot ... still have a 243 - 30.06 and Browning 338 WM ... wish I had never let the 270 and 7mm go..there is a guy on Canadiangunnutz trying to move a lefty Tikka in 308 ....

I wish I would have kept both SS Lefty M70s I had.

I thinned out my Hawkeyes a bit. I sold stainless Hawkeye’s in 223, 25-06, 308, 300 Win, 338 Win as well as a blued 30-06. I still have a stainless Ruger RAR in 223, and stainless Hawkeyes in 30-06, 375 Ruger and 416 Ruger as well as a stainless Mark II in 9.3 x62.

I have 3 stainless laminate hawkeyes. .25-06, .270 and .300 WM. Although I rarely shoot them anymore, doubt I'll ever sell them.

I'd love to find a LH M77 in 450 bushmaster up here in Canada. Looking on US gun sights their seems to be only US exclusive ones.

The 450 Bushmaster Rugers (other than the few cataloged) are ordered directly by Randy's Hunting Center in Bad Axe, MI.

Not sure how or if it is even possible to do an import to Canada from a U.S. dealer

Basically to order anything from the us you have to get it imported by a company.

Same problem in reverse. Lots of LH Tikka models are available in Canada that we can't get. But the hoops to get through to import one aren't worth it

I've been looking for one of the lefty 300 RCMs for a while now. A guy was selling one with hundreds of rounds of ammo that I should have bought at the time.

The interesting thing about the Ruger 300 and 338 RCM's are the rifles themself. Both came with factory iron sights, shorter 20 inch barrels, and the LOP is 13 inches (slightly less than than standard 13.5). They are a really nice, easy to handle "woods" rifle that is capable of killing anything in North America.

Yes are are amazing at least for me in fit and about the perfect weight and length. My Ruger 338RCM compact rifle is by far the finest hunting rifle I own in terms of form, size, and function. My only hate on it is I wish the 338RCM was a popular cartridge

I have a left hand Ruger Hawkeye in 30-06 with a gray laminated stock and silver finish Leupold Vari-X III scope. Bought it to replace the left hand Remington 700 LSS in .300 Win Mag that I sold because the recoil was causing me neck pain. I actually wish I’d kept the Remington and bought the Hawkeye too.

Glad to hear about the above mentioned LH .450BM source/Randy's in Bad Axe, MI. . I have a project AR in that caliber, I ambi'ed the lower (safety/mag release) and did a ambi charging handle on the upper. Still not complete but looking forward to seeing how 'thumping' that unit will be!??

I'd like to aquire a nice LH .450 BM Ruger SS laminate heavy barrel to have a bit more accuracy/reach out than the AR. I am aware the .450 BM falls off hard after 150 yards but since I have a supply of Hornady ammo it would be nice to have a more accurate LH bolt rifle.

I know it’s more work but if really wanting a .416 Ruger. Get a right handed .416 Ruger, which are easier to find and a left hand .375 Ruger. Have a gunsmith do a barrel swap on the two guns. Sell the right handed .375 Ruger.

I agree, hate those stocks. I've seen a few of them in .416 like this, but they don't come up often. If I had extra funds right now, I'd be tempted to get it and put a Boyds stock on it to keep the overall cost reasonable, but have it look much better

Stock will break unless it's bedded! The loose fit and a not-always-tight front action screw is a bad combo leading to a broken stock on the heavy kickers in the Ruger 77,s.
