SS LH 7 MM Rem Mag had a Win Super grade stock, marked Custom Classic, Silver Leupold scope.

Super crowded at the new Anchorage Cabaelas, so did not get a long look at rifle.

Here are three pics of my Custom Shop .375.

The barrel has the usual Winchester roll markings on the left but it also has "Classic Custom Safari" on the right - I'd guess that the "Safari" was only for the Safari Express models. I had this and a SS .30-06 and both did come with McMillan Winchester Supergrade stocks.

Thanks Jim will have to go and look again after crowds at Cabela's calm down. I think it was marked Classic Custom. Very nice wood. But for $4300 it should! What were they new?

I recall seeing a custom shop left-handed .308 on Gunsamerica about eight-and-a-half years ago with a $2500 asking price, which was close to what Winchester wanted for one at the time.

In 2000 when I ordered mine they were just over $2000, with the Custom Safari a couple hundred dollars more. FWIW it took 9 months to get the .375 and exactly one year to get the .30-06, even though both were ordered at the same time.

My candid opinion is that they weren't worth it then. Not that they were crap, they were great rifles - the actions were smooth as silk and that .375 would honestly feed a full magazine of empty cases. The .375 was also exceptionally accurate, I fired many sub-MOA 4 and 5 shot groups and even picked off two ground squirrels at a measured 200 yards with it, they were cavorting in a suicidal manner on the 200 yard berm of our range. The barrels were cut rifled by K&P barrels IIRC, that was a barrel making company started by an employee of HS Precision.

But when I say they weren't "worth" it, at that time someone could have built the same rifle for about $1400 or maybe $1500; custom barrel, McMillan Supergrade stock, nice sights, "honed action" - if you could have found the LH SS actions. Winchester only made production lefties in SS in the first year of LH production which, again IIRC, was in 1996. But they did have a bunch of SS actions held back for the custom shop, that's why I had to order mine through them.

I remember calling Black Sheep Sporting Goods up in North Idaho back around late '96 or early '97 asking if they had any LH blued Model 70 Sporters in .30-06 - "no, sorry. We do have LH stainless ones in .30-06, .270, and .375 H&H if you want one." Me - "No thanks, I'm looking for a blued one."

Yeah, I still kick myself about that...

I recall seeing some custom shop LH M70s on Gunbroker. One that I wished I had bought was, I think, called an Ultimate Custom Stainless Classic. It had high grade wood, tapered octagon barrel and IIRC around $3500

Went back today and took a couple pics. It is marked Ultimate Classic. Has Leupold 3.5 X 10 scope.

I'd like to think it'll sit there for a while, but people have been known to do some insane things with their money.

Cabelas used to be a good place to find good deals on used guns but [bleep] anymore they are way out of line on a lot of things. The one here in Denver has a bunch overpriced used guns that's for sure.

Cabelas does fully price its used rifles. The fanciest Custom Shop Classic 70 was the "Ultimate Classic," produced around 2005-2006 (also LH) with a case and factory letter, for MRSP of $3000.

They are beautiful and should shoot, with all the custom work. I have seen some offered and eventually sold after many months for up to $5000. I would not pay that for this one, but that is just me.

It's been my experience that their used gun pricing is store dependent. Similar items are priced differently store to store, I think depending partially on the affluence of the area. They don't have the Winchester listed on their online Gun Library, but they have a Sako .416 Rem safari grade that is "pending" at $8000!

I looked at this gun last night. It looks like an excellent rifle but I think that is a bit more than I would want to spend. It seemed like the store was quite proud of a lot of their guns.
