I'm a little bit hung up on Mausers. My uncle brought one back from WW2 and needless to say I have a soft spot for the brand. I wanted an 8mm in left and recently stumbled across the 3000 models. I am looking for info or insights on them if anyone has some. Particularly on the left handed models. I am currently questing for a 3000L in 7MM Rem Mag if anyone has a lead on one.

Last gunshow in Palmer AK there was a very nice 3000L in a Mcmillion in 300 Win Mag had a 22" Krieger barell a steal at $695. Finished in a Stainless looking coating, maybe Armaloy.

May have the contact if he still has it.

Do a search for username "hackleback" on here. He had one in 7mag for sale awhile back.
Be advised, these are not a Model 98 style action, but nothing wrong with them. If you are looking for a commercial style 98 mauser in left hand, you need to look for a Charles Daly Zastava or Zastava M70. Look on Gunbroker.com or Gunsinternational for examples of either.

I owned one back in the 1970's. It was a left hand 375 H&H. Stock was sort of wild like a Weatherby design. But the push feed action was super smooth. It would feed and eject any type of ammo or bullet design I used 100% of the time.

The Mauser 2000, 3000, and 4000 series of rifles were manufactured by Heym at their Muennerstadt, West Germany factory, for Mauser. To my knowledge, most of them were marketed in the USA by a company called Mauser Bauer. After the contract with Mauser expired, Heym made some changes to the rifles and marketed them under the Heym name as the SR-20 series.

I've owned about a dozen 3000L's, and still have two, a .270 and a 7 Mag. You'll find them on the Gunbroker occasionally. I'd start there.

I bought one in about 1969 . I ordered it in 270 at a local hardware store. a month went by and they said they could not get 270.but could get 3006. I was jacked by OConners praise of 270 but took the 06. I have never regretted it . I did have a Williams peep on it for a while and it took elk and deer and still does today. I feel like that is all the rifle I need for anything in North America. The action is smooth and never fails to feed. It will shoot 3/4 groups.It' my go to rifle. The only reason I got it was because of it being a lefty.

I have a 2000 and 3000 in RH. I see one every 5 years or so.
They are not a collectors item but they are rare enough and few and far between.


They are a fantastic rifle.

My brother and I both picked up a 30-06 in 1972.....he still has his with the original Redfield Widefield 2-7

6 years ago I saw a 7mm RM in a local gunshops used rack $450 it was used not abused

They were imported by Bauer in Frazer, MI....they also made a stainless steel reproduction of the Baby Browning 25 ACP....owner was a client of mine in early 70's....

I have a bunch of them , 243 to 375, I love them , not all are tackdrivers but I bed, freefloat and adjust the triggers, these are not the normal Mausers, super smooth , great design in there stockwork and finished well, mine will be handed down , I hope and pray my grand kids are left eye dominent, I might have to poke them in the right eye! My daughter is totally left handed but kids are young , I concur with T square, he is 100% accurate

I have seen them for sale from $600 to 3,500. They are a smooth PF actioned rifle that will serve you well. Because of the PF, their value is questionable without a great resale price.

I did not know that push feed rifles were less expensive than the other variety. I don't think I ever saw one in a varmint caliber.

I bought a 3000 LH in .30-06 back in the early 70's, think it was around $200. They were nice rifles.

Can't ever remember having a problem with it. I replaced it with a LH Rem 700 FS in .30-06 in the 80's.

I own a M3000L in 7mm Rem Mag, mine came with a factory 26" bbl. I bought it as a barreled action for $179 in 1974 with money earned mowing lawns. It still has the same Vari-XII on it that I paid $69 for. The stock is AAA grade fiddle back maple and the stock was patterned by hand to match my dad's Mark V. The rifle is a shooter, it likes 145gr Speer's both SP & SBT, 154gr Hornady's, and Sierra 160gr SBT's. Never tried any 175's in it. I will never sell this rifle.
A close friend picked up a 3000L in 30-06 and was a shooter. I do not remember if it had a 24" bbl or not.
When I bought my barreled action I had a choice between 7mm, 270, or 30-06.
The only thing that is cheesy about the M3000L's is the pot metal floor plate. Otherwise they are wonderful rifles.

Mauser and JP Sauer rifles are owned by the same company that owns Blaser rifles. They are all made in Isny, Germany. The barrels for all 3 brands are made in the same room at the factory. This company also owns John Rigby & Co. in London.

Only thing is the safety is kinda hideous thing that looks like an afterthought..

The safety on the 3000 is neither convenient nor particularly quiet, and that massive bolt shroud adds quite a bit of unnecessary weight. Heym revised both in the SR-20.

Mine is still up for grabs. Bills to pay, and a teenage football player and a 20 YO to feed.

With hunting season here, this could be yours and I am sure you need it..
