These have the longer action (375 H&H length). I picked one up and hope it shoots well. The rifle is in very good original condition. My thought is to get rid of the gloss blue but want to know about how many are out there before I alter it.
Not likely there are any numbers or estimates available. That era of Winchester was not a highlight, and I'm sure their records department was lacking as well
What are the 1st 3 digits of the SN? Also there were two distinct runs of the LH model 70’s as well. First run the SN started with 117xxx the second run I want to say they were in the 7 digits and most of them were chambered in the WSM’s.. from what I have read the hardest one too find in the 117xxx sn range are the 270 Winchester’s..
I bought this LH Model 70 in Oct. of 97, new OTD for $568. 338 Mag. One of the rarer ones with a walnut stock. SN G1790xx This was going to be my elk /moose rife for some hunts coming up back then. Never got either, but did score a few Mule Deer using it. Sold it a few years ago for $1,400, great rifle, but didn't need that power anymore.
