Who is shooting this gun? Impressions? Results? Was going to build a 22-250 and have gathered up all the parts but the barrel. Then I see this, Tikka t3x 1-8 twist 22-250 and really am considering this rifle. I appreciate any feedback from rifle use in the wild. db

Just got back from shooting my LH 1-8 Tikka 22-250, 5 shot group at 100 .437" 75 gr Hornady max load of RL 17. With a lousy Minox 3 X 9 BDC $100 special.

I have one too but haven't done any load workup for it. I've done some loading but haven't gotten to the range yet.

I have one and it shoots as well as any custom. I can't seem to get the velocity others are posting. However, I've only tested with a 75gr AMAX. 32.5 gr of RL-15 with the AMAX .020 off the lands produces one ragged hole at 100 yds.

Minimal load development because I was in a sweat to get in the hills with it ,about 3/4 in at 100. I do very much like the carry of it.Balances well a bit heavier in front which i like .though i do not normally like a stock that is flat on the bottom but it is well rounded on the edges.I picked the first load that tried 65Gr Sierra bthp and H380 for the metering. Will refine that in warm weather. Good enough for a wolf as that is why I got it .As a leftie it sure suits me though I would have preferred blue and wood ,take what you get as a leftie cause they will ditch it in a bit .

Mine was the easiest load work up ever. Not a huge fan of the plastic magazines, but they shoot and balance well! The 62 grain TTSX is a deer killer!

I'm getting 3200 fps shooting the 70 grain Barnes TSX. .5" groups but I haven't got to hunt with it yet, Should be a great hog/deer round!

This is the bullet I have begun loading for. I have 50 rounds loaded and will get it out this week to see how it likes CFE223 in varying amounts. What powder did you use, Talentrec?

Mine shoots as good as any custom I have. Bought it as a truck gun for coyotes and the damn thing is a tack driver with Sierra BT hollow points, 55 gn

Ok, ordered the rifle Monday from Whitaker s. Picked it up Thursday!! Home, read the manual, adjusted the trigger to 2.5 lbs. mounted the scope (old Nikon 4-14) and picked up 2 boxes of Winchester 55gr ballistic tip.

They are really nice and shoot VERY well. Grab one if you can find it.

Got a hankering for a long range rig without going whole hog about it (i.e. $$$$) and currently sorting through all the wild hairs. Looking at .224 and .243 diameters now since they don't cost too awful much to feed. Once you get into the 6.5mm bullets then you're talking $35 or more per 100 for decent slippery bullets.

Got a LH RAR .22-250 with 1:10 twist but have only tried standard weights in it so far - 50 and 55 grains; it does shoot great with those. Ordered a box each of Hornady 68 BTHP and Sierra 69 TMK and will see if it handles them well. But even if it does, .224 bullets suitable for a 1:10 max out around a BC of .375 or so. You have to get up into the 75-80 grains or higher range to get BC's even close to what the 6 or 6.5 mm offers.

Ruger makes a 6mm Creedmoor Predator pretty cheap so that's one turn key option. Right handed only but for a dedicated bench/bipod rifle that's not a big detriment. It's a 1:7.7 twist so it would handle the heaviest bullets on the market.

The LH Tikka .22-250 1:8 should handle the real heavyweights so that's another turn key option. Especially since it's pretty much guaranteed to shoot well with a good trigger, and I like that vertical replacement pistol grip you can put on it. Another thing in favor of the .22-250 is that recoil doesn't spoil your view of the target even in a light sporter rifle.

Then to further muddy the waters I already have a LH M700 with a .243 AI Pac-Nor barrel, it's twisted 1:9. It has some 3000+ rounds through it but so far still groups in the .3's. Throat's pretty worn but I haven't chased those lands to the end yet. I could rebarrel to .243 AI in 1:8 or 1:7.7, I still have the reamer (only used once so far), but would prefer to shoot the current barrel 'til it dies. Plus by the time you buy a new quality barrel and have it installed you've spent near the cost of a store-bought Tikka .22-250 anyway and more than that Ruger 6mm CM.

Decisions, decisions...

What about the Tikka 22-250 8" twist and having it AI'd?

I'm in a similar situation but my decisions are in the 243/6mm CM decision pool. I have a bunch of 243 ammo and thought of getting a LH action and having a 7" twist barrel reamed to 243 AI which would allow me to shoot the factory ammo I currently have and fireform brass to the AI in the process. Otherwise, a 6mm CM looks good.

I only have one Tikka and it's a RH .223 I bought it for my son and he has no interest these days. The thing is extremely accurate and smooth as silk.

I surely don't need another gun of any flavor but if I had to sell everything and hunt for the rest of my days a couple of these LH Tikka's would do everything........and do it very well.

This would be a pig killing wizard.
