Put it on gunbroker. This is the first of a few LH bolt actions I'll be selling over the next several weeks.

Ruger Hawkeye .308 LH
Good luck with the sale.

Can you give us a sneak peak as to what else you’re thinking of selling?

Nice rifle! Based on the feedback here....expect to have it listed for awhile. The lefties just aren’t moving.
Don't hold me to any of this, I want to see how this Hawkeye goes, but I have Montana X2 .243 1:8 twist, a Tikka T3x .260, a Winchester Fwt. 270 WSM and another Ruger Hawkeye .308, all left handed. That latter Hawkeye is stainless steel and is one of only a very few short action left handed SS Hawkeyes they ever made. They made around 20 or 40 .308's and then another run of about 20 in .223. However, those garner no collector interest that I can see.

Already got a couple questions on the auction since yesterday afternoon. No bids yet but it's a 10 day auction, so we'll see how it goes.

"Market" means nothing. Only takes 1 buyer.
I listed a LH 300 mag T3 in October that had a bunch of aftermarket extras on it and it sold in 2 days. Got every penny that I had in it, plus the use of it for 2 years.

might be interested in a lh .223 if you decide to cull one from the herd.

Gus sent you a PM
Jim,
Nice rifle. Is it a true short action or does the magazine have a block in it?
Posted By: KenMi Re: Selling my LH Hawkeye .308 - 01/19/19
That is a short action.
I bought one of the stainless ones years back and had a 260 made from it. Good gun.

If I could have found a Ruger stainless lefty .308 size action for a donor, I would have built a .260 with it. Instead I bought a MRC and dealt with those headaches.
There are those Gunsite Scout rifles out there in 308 both blued and stainless. Kind of funny looking but still a short action.
Yes, they did and still do make left hand stainless short actions, just not in the Hawkeye configuration. I forget the exact history since this was about 2012 but the story was that they had made up some stainless LH SA scout rifles for sale in Canada and had some receivers left over, so they turned them into LH .308 Hawkeyes for sale in the US, then used up the last of that batch to make a small final run of LH .223's. I have the LH stainless .308 and a LH stainless .223 and the serial numbers are very close to each other. Then later they made the left hand stainless SA Scout rifles into regular production items which are still made in .308 with a DBM. They stopped making LH Hawkeyes altogether at the beginning of 2015 or maybe 2016.

That story of how the LH SS Hawkeyes came about is what I gleaned from dealers and other postings at that time so if anyone has any other info to clarify that please feel free to contribute.

Thats what I heard as well.

They did make stainless Americans in LH as well. Started as Davidsons exclusives, then cataloged for a short time. Now all stainless rifles in the American line are being dropped

Good for you!

I bet that stainless would draw a "premium". No doubt there are many that don't even know that gun existed from the factory. Gunbroker is crazy, like Ebay sometimes. But, that's great for sellers.
