Looking around for a combo gun and found a valmet 212, I've owned a valmet 412s years ago and found it to be a nice piece. What are the main difference between the two. Haven't found a lot of info on the 212. What would be a decent price in todays market for a 212. Also looking at an old tikka 12/70 but really like the two trigger set up vs single with selector. thanks
Seems like you\re asking about the difference between the single trigger and 2 trigger set-ups---basically thats the only real difference between the 2 models in my book---I have both and prefer the double for hunting, maybe the single would be better for trap/skeet .

the valmet 212 that I'm looking at is a double trigger gun unless they have it listed wrong

The 212 and true 2400 are a bit lighter than the 412/512 series guns, which were a bit beefier inside the receivers to accommodate the 9.3X74R, etc. , but they are real similar for sure.

You can install a DT or SST in the 212 guns and the upgraded Savage 2400 with the better grade wood and cut checkering. The 212 guns have the plain wood and pressed checkering.

thanks windridge pretty much exactly what another fine member on here said, i bought it today so in a week or so i will get to fondle it, this one had a DT installed and about 98% condition
thanks for eveyones help on this gets confusing with all the importers and models
I have used a 12/12 barrel in my 412 with single trigger for trap. Haven't used the 9.3 set on game yet. Need to do that. Good luck if you buy it. They are good guns. Be Well, RZ.

Nice snag!

You will find that the rifle is pretty accurate for a break open gun, and you can regulate the barrels to shoot same POI with the windage adjustment at the muzzle and elevation at mid barrel. Be aware that a slight movement of the elevation adjustment moves the Rifle POI a lot. More pressure (spread at the center lug) makes it shoot higher, less pressure goes lower. The pressure has little effect on the shotgun barrel, it being very stiff.
I'm quite partial to my 412. It has served me a bit in trap. The rifle barrel set hasn't yet been hunted but there are no flies on a 9.3X74. It groups 286 gr RN within a four inch group. I can adjust it closer but I went the wrong way with the adjustment screw and it used to hit more closely. Need to go out again and bring the adjustment screw back a bit. RZ.

so i finally shot the valmet today, i had some winchester 50 sp ammo for years setting around here looking for something to shoot them in. I ended up putting an older redfield 2x7 TV scope on it, after getting it on paper this effing thing was printing 5/8" groups. The guy i was shooting with was just standing there looking at me in disbelief. Needless to say Im excited what i seen today on accuracy of the valmet. Didn't get a chance to shoot the shotgun to see where it was hitting vs rifle before regulating if needed
