What's a Valmet model 412S 3" 12 ga. over a .243 in 90% worth? Saw one on a gun site, for $2000, and mine is in better condition. Just curious, seems high to me. has a vintage weaver 3-9. Scope has the plactic AO nice scope, chincy objective, duplex reticle. Rifle shoots sub moa with factory ammo. Thanks
Been watching the same one , also notice there are no bids.
I've owned dozens of them over time and was buying, selling, and trading them as a hobby. I killed a cape buffalo with a 12ga/9,3X74R combo and several deer with others.

I still have a 412S 12/30-06 with two scope mounts and a set of 12ga-3" choke tube barrels.

A 412 (not lesser 412S) 12ga/243 with original Valmet scope mount is worth about what the parts are worth if sold separately.

Receiver and butt stock...$350.00
Combo Barrel set..........$650-$700.00
OEM scope mount...........$200.00
Scope.......................$65.00

Add it up. This is TOPS for the gun.
I agree with luv
even though a few people think the 243 is a more desirable caliber it just doesn't justify the 2K price
One in 30-06, 308, or 9,3X74R will sell much faster. This is a HEAVY gun for a 243!!! eek
I cannot help but notice that at the same site, there is a gun with a set of 12ga barrels, a set of 30-06 barrels, scope and mount at $1400....and no bids

Sure would like to have one tho
I see them sit a long time on GunsInternational like that one and for $1,200-$1,300.

I wish I had tucked away my 20 or so barrel sets. They went up faster than gold! shocked

wink
Just missed a 12/222Rem for $600 over at the PM site.
OHHHhhhhhhh...... schidt! frown frown
i THINK THERE ARE A COUPLE OF SAVAGE 2400'S FOR SALE AT GUN BROKER
Thanks to all.
I have one with 2 double rifle barrels and a combo and shotgun barrel-scope mounts, etc. I paid $1800 several years ago. Thought I got a decent deal. It is heavy and clubby but it shoots very well in 30-06 and 9.3x74. Each barrel is MOA about 11/2" apart maybe 2". It is a tool and will do the job. It ain't pretty but it is deadly.
The Finns never made any junk. It may not be what you like but it will shoot.
I particularly like them in 9,3X74R. They're quite a bit lighter, actually, with the thinner-walled barrels the bigger bore creates.
Decided to sell the Valmet, Have it listed. Thanks for all info. Don
