I see one of these for sale on gun broker
I've never seen a combo (12 ga x 7.62X39)in this caliber before

Are you sure it isn't 7.62X51?
The catalog doesn't show that 7.62X39 configuration.

EDIT: I just went and looked at it on Gunbroker. The receiver IS marked "7.62X39".

Well, it makes sense. Especially if you're in Russia!

They definately do make on in 7.62x39, because I was at the Adair range in Yuma AZ a couple of months ago and the guy next to me had one, and allowed me to shoot it a couple of times.

I believe that Bud's had some not too long ago that they were pushing out the door very cheap, like they are the 12ga/30-06's at $450. right now, 12ga/223's are a hundred bucks more.

EAA still shows the 12ga/7.62x39 combo gun on their product list.

I would find the 7.62X54 much more useful for it's 308 power level. But in some places it could be quite useful especially if you could only get the AK round easily.

If the 7.62X54 were German and not Russian it would be chambered in a bunch of combo guns. It's a great sporting round where a rimmed case is superior, IMO.
cool

Dow any of you guys have one of these 12 gauge / rifle combo guns. I have a baikal double in 45-70 that I like. We have recently been seeing more wild hogs here and I have thought about one of these condo guns. I too saw the 12/7.62x39 and was interested. I am sure it has .311 bore wouldn't it. I still think it would be a fun gun and quite useful. Any user experience is appreciated.

the 7.62X39 is not that far off from .30-30 performance, and with a decent sporting bullet, it will give good results.

Bud's has the 12ga over 30-06 on sale for $451, would make great hog gun with plenty of bullets to choose from.

I don't own one but have a few in other brands and think they are very handy for predator hunting works on everything from hard chargers at 20 ft to old wise guys at 300 yrds.

I hate you! mad

I am so close to pulling the trigger on the Bud's deal, and I can't afford to do it.

These things shoot spooky groups! The two I had were decent guns.

BTW, I pulled my finger off the trigger. frown

I bought a 12 ga./.308 earlier this year. My post on it is below. I like it a lot. As luv2safari said they shoot great groups. This pleasantly surprised me considering the relatively skinny rifle barrel.
I use it deer hunting and bloodied it first trip this year.
I consider it my do everything gun.

I am going to pullnthe trigger on one of these buds deals. I am thinking of going with the 7.62x39 as it should be good on a coyote or hog out to about 150 yards and shouldn't be too bad recoiling. Is there any reason I should go with the 30-06 instead? Remember we can't use rifles for deer here, so it will strictly be a coyote and hog gun. I know the 223 would probably be best but it is a little over a hundred dollars more. This is going to be a 4 wheeler and brush gun. I figure I can get all of my loading components for the hundred dollars saved.

You may find that the 7.62X39 might have some misfires due to hard primers. I have heard of this occurring in H&R Handi rifles chambered in 7.62X39. Just something to think about. Then again it may be nothing in the Baikal.

But it shouldn't be an issue with reloads should it.
Posted By: bart71175 Re: baikal in 7.62 x 39 - 12/30/13
I have the 12ga 6.5 swede combo and it shoots the rifle round dead on at about 75 yards and the shotgun shoots a little high at 25 yards.

Don't underestimate the 7.62x39 round ,plenty powerful enough to take deer out to150 or so. I have seen it done many times.

Plenty of good bullets to load 7.62 with out there.

Use the Federal/Remington/Winchester stuff, and not Wolf or Tula, and you won't have any problems.

7.62x39/20 gauge would get my attention pretty quickly, especially if it was on a smaller frame than that 12 gauge version.
