...at my age, so I am divesting of some steel frame drillings and going to Dural.

This is the newest in the safe, a recently acquired Sauer 3000 Dural LUX in 16ga 2 3/4" and 7X65R with a full length 22 Hornet insert, scoped with 1.5-6 Zeiss in claw mounts

WITH the insert installed it weighs no more than the same gun with no insert on a steel receiver.

Neat gun, great calibers! 7x65 is more-or-less a rimmed .280, and that's plenty for anything that doesn't hunt YOU, although 2 16 guage Brennecke slugs might help with those critters, too.

Dural doesn't engrave as finely as steel, but I prefer bold engraving anyway--I'm one of those few guys who thinks an L.C. Smith "Ideal" grade IS ideal! That Sauer looks great.

MY OH MY!!!!
That is lovely! If that insert barrel is as accurate as my 5.6x50R insert, you will be really pleased. Mine amazes me.
Curious how long the barrels are and what it weighs. That would be a pleasure to hunt with. My dural Meffert is a lot nicer to carry than my steel framed guns.
Congrats

The barrels are 25 1/2", and it weighs 6 1/4 pounds without the scope and insert.

It balances a little muzzle-heavy but is not at all bad with the chambers loaded.

It's a bit lighter than the Kreighoff Trumpf Dural in the same chamberings. The insert will work in either, I believe. The Kreighoffs are a bit beefier, but I love the top safety instead of the Sauer's Greener side safety.
