He'll soon get his combo-cherry popped with an excellent drilling buy. It was a steal, listed as an 8X57JR but is really an 8X57JRS. Sauer early post-war 16/16/8X57JRS with 6X Hensoldt in claws. There's hardly a more useful drilling made, then or now.

He'll be hunting with Class from now on. cool cool

Nice! Once he takes it hunting, more will follow! smile

Jeff
Bruce are you delivering it? If so you'll go thru Durango. Bob
He ordered it from a dealer, Bob. I wish I had an excuse to get to Durango and visit you two and our Girl.

Alamosa will have "the needle" in his arm, for sure. He likes to hunt with good things. wink

Can't thank Bruce enough for his help with the purchase.
I've always wanted one of these but it is a little intimidating for a first time buyer because there is a lot about them that is new to me.
I've done hunts in CO, OK, KS, where I could have used a combo gun and am happy to finally get one.
I have 2 shotguns with similar European craftsmanship and look - a Kark Hauptman and an Anschutz-Ugartechia. This will be a very nice companion for those.
I have to say that Simpson in IL was great to deal with also.

THANKS BRUCE!
I just happen to have an extra 22 Hornet full length insert that can be fitted to your drilling... whistle whistle

wink
Does it come with a llewellin?
Colorado bob has a good point, Greg.

With all your amassed Class you now need a Llewellin. whistle
Llewellin?
Is that the English Setter that you use to hunt the foggy highlands while wearing your fine wool herringbone?
LOL
I picked up the drilling tonight.
Took a few photos of identifying marks.
Didn't run across any SN yet.

I see the serial number on the receiver

330234XXX, can't quite make it out.

It looks very good, no rust and a nice patina. cool cool

And, it's an 8X57 JRS , just like I said it would be. That's worth a good premium.
Dang!

I wish I had curbed your deal with Simpson every time I look at your drilling. I had to let my JRS gun go to get the Reeb double rifle and feel a bit naked now...no hard-shooting 8mm in the herd. It also has a very good scope. cool
hot it serves you right and get you a lot of trophies
