I have a model 24 B 22LR over .410 with the button on the side to switch from top to bottom barrel. The hammer also has the selector on it , where you can choose what barrel you want. The selector doesn't do anything. I am wondering if it may have died and they installed the hammer? Any information would be appreciated.

Breaking is a common problem for side selector 24's so a simple fix is to change to a hammer selector---you can get the parts for the side selector--look on ebay and gunbroker-- but why bother--the hammer selector is easier to use
