I’m in the planning and bill-of-material phase for a large rolling barn-door
project.

Unfortunately, searching online for “barn doors “ etc results in a zillion hits on various foo-foo yuppie indoor “fad of the year yet out of fashion next year” barn door projects for bathroom doors.

After scrolling thru multiple pages down in the search results eventually I can find info on the REAL Stanley and National brand barn door hardware, catalogs, and design guides.

I was surprised to see they offer, in addition to the traditional “box rail “ products, a round rail design.

Does anybody here have any experience with these new-fangled round rail barn door systems? How do you like them, how do they compare with the box rail approach??? Etc.

You will find the round rail systems, smoother and quieter, than the box rail system, i have them on 2 big barns with split 16' doors a total of 8 doors. Rio7
The round rails are also self cleaning. Which may be important if you have mud daubers or birds that might plug the tracks.
or lots of blowing dust.....

Thank you! Those are all good things to consider. We have the mud daubers up the kazoo and blowing dust up the nostrils here (New Mexico). RIO7, would you say the round rail systems also have lower rolling resistance?
