Have been having some good luck with these TrapLine mole traps. Only caveat to using them is the soil has to be firm enough to be messed with, very sandy soil is hard to work with.

My sets haven't been 100%, as sometimes I don't bed the trap properly and the mole roots under them. But when set properly, the mole wanders in and gets hit right in the breadbasket. Were kinda expensive, but quality is high, nice traps.

Those traps look very similar to a gopher trap. I'll have to give them a try.

Yeah, they are similar to the old style traps, but only about 2/3 as long and seem to have a better spring mechanism. I threw my old traps away..

I've actually had good luck with the electronic chasers for the last couple of years. Last week I did have one get into the front yard (no chasers there). He was unfortunate enough to be digging when I walked by while spraying (spit) ground ivy. He was unearthed and then dispatched with the spade.

5s,

What brand of electronic chaser are you using?
Do you think it might work on the dang Belding's ground squirrels we have in NoCal? I've considered traps but we're surrounded by wildlands and there will be a never ending supply of the critters trying to get into the yard.

Thanks for any help.

Sweeney's - I have both the battery-powered and the solar-powered. The battery-powereds seem to last a couple of years. I just tried the solar-powered this year, so don't know how it will compare for longevity.

Best one I have come across is the Black Hole rodent trap. 5-10minutes and I get the gopher. Google Black Hole trap

Ii have yet to find a mole trap that works 100% of the time. The problem I have is that the mole runs are too deep for a trap to successfully work.

You better be glad. They can be downright destructive to a yard. Real pain in the rear to get rid of. I've tried just about everything, and trapping and killing them is really the only way to get rid of them.....until the next one comes along.
