Kubota 2650:

Trying to resolve what to attach to the draw bar to be able to hook a strap or run a chain onto it.

Can't find a clevis that is both small enough for the pin to fit through the hole and big enough to fit over/under the draw bar.

Any help?
What size pin, Mike? A clevis might be made by bending a piece of steel strap, with two holes bored through it? Do you know anyone that bends iron?

We have several twisted clevis that take a 3/4" pin. They were used a long time ago with the three bottom rope trip plows that tripped when a rock caught. The plow unhooked, and off went the tractor, if a fellow was lucky, ya' stayed on the seat!

Have you tried any internet sources?
Have the same issue.

I solve it when I need to use it that way by putting a trailer ball on it, then using a wide hook on my chain end that just goes under the ball, on the ball shank. Works like a charm.
What size pin are you folks talking about?

Are these hard to find?
Can always make something that will work. Got enuf to do that I just want plugNplay.

Have not measured it. Glad it is so skookum though.
I'll check the green dealer.
Good luck with it Mike.

Hard to find here. JD dealer does don’t know what I wanted. crazy

To the www.
Tractor supply carries what wabigoon posted in several sizes.
Those clevis are not so cheap any more. I don't think I have ever bought one new. Auction sales, ones my father had, found on the road, and a gag gift once, that's where ours came from. The type with threaded pin are good, just don't use a pin, and wreck the threads.

Another note on clevis, when used with a recovery strap, make SURE the clevis does not come lose, and become a deadly weapon!
I might have an extra one here Mike if you can tell me the pin diameter. Should be the same as my Kubota, but I can't get around much as I just had shoulder replaced
Mike. I have one here. It is U shaped, 6" deep, 2.5" wide inside. Made out of 3/4" bar ad takes a 3/4" pin. I don't have a pin for it and at present it has 1/2 bolt in it.

A pin should be easy to find there.

You can have it if you think you can use it. I have to get into town and FED EX next week to ship a box and I can send it to you then . PM me your address. No PO box though
PM coming Vince.
No TSC here. In fact they won't let me on their webpage with my zip code!

I called the JD dealer. Parts guy had no idea what I needed until I 'splained it 3 times.

Can't find anything local fitting 'both' the throat and pin diam. The bar is 1.25 thick and anything available that will accept that has a pin diameter 1" or greater. Pin hole is 3/4"

All my stock is lighter than would work for the clevis. Also, all is mild steel. By the time I buy the stock, and the time to fab, I'll be ahead $ by ordering.

Heck, thought I could work with a hardened eye bolt with a 3/4" shank. None o'them either.

Found this on the kubota forum though - drawbar hook for chain.

That would work with a chain Mike, the proper size chain.[Linked Image] This is on ebay. Good luck finding what you need.
Mike,

Let me take a look in the morning. I think I have what you need. I'll give you a shout as soon as I take a look.

I ran into the same problem. I'm sure you are handy enough to build something. 5/8" in a cheap Chinese shackle would not quite fit over the draw bar. I ground the shackle jaws enough to fit. Because I have a backblade I never use the drawbar. I had a 2" receiver welded on the blackblade and use a pintle hook most of the time

This is a great place. Thanks to Rick!

I had several offers in this thread and via PM, of getting something at TSC, to things people had laying around.

I solved my problem and it was embarrassingly simple. The clevis fit closely enough that all I needed to do was remove a tiny bit of material. Really not much more than polishing the innards of the pin area. Put it in the vise and hit with the angle grinder until it fit. Then drilled out the hole for the bolt. A pin would have worked also. Thanks everyone.

There you go

That should work, tt my be bit tight for a larger chain. Just don't get stuck much.
I like the Crocs!
Looks like you got it worked out. The offer stands if you ever need something. Happy New Year!

I'd safety that so it won't loosen due to the up and down action
I welded a straight tube of a receiver hitch to the top of the drawbar and then put an insert into the tube. It gave me many options of a trailer ball or a an insert with a clevis.
