Oat hay in big rounds. We stopped after one load. The net wrap was froze down. I'm not sur[Linked Image][Linked Image][Linked Image][Linked Image]e what to do next.

Ahh yes, the ol' ice and net wrap conundrum.....


There isn't much you can do. Some guys stack bales flat side down and then lay the second level round side down but that take a lot more space.


The worst is pulling icy straw bales off a stack. That can turn into a BIG mess.

This oat hay was rained on some, that's why we rolled it up. We will see if the cows like it as well as the alfalfa.

Sometimes they like a little variety.


I met a semi load of straw today on the highway.


It was a shaky load at best. Straw debris scattered for over 20 miles. Shaggy would be a good description.....

I wish we knew the weight of these bales. We mostly feed what the cows clean up.

Haven't had to worry about the net wrap being frozen here this winter, but I covered my wheat hay rolls, so I guess that's why. But, still we have had very little weather that's been cold enough to freeze anything.
