Been busy trying to rig a boom sprayer on my Mule 4010 UTV.

Had an old 12' boom rig to start with, but it hasn't worked in years.

Got busy this morning and rebuilt and fitted everything to operate off my 40 gallon spot sprayer.

Had to manufacture all fittings and adapt it to the bed of the Mule, then update hookups and nozzles.

Finally gotter done!

I'm fertilizing a field here that's about 12 acres. Using liquid nitrogen mix, and adding Remedy broadleaf herbicide to kill weeds while I'm fertilizing!

Works great! It'll broadcast a 14' path, and use up the 40 gallon capacity in about 20 minutes.

Undo a couple of bungee cords and the boom lifts right out. Didn't have to alter the bed of my UTV in the least.

How many tanks for the 12-acres?

Probably 10 40 gallon tanks.

About 3.5 hours of spraying at the rate it sprays.

It sure beats bringing one of my tractors from another project where they are now.

I should have fertilized that field a couple years ago. But the hurricane messed it up in 2017, and WAY too much rain would have washed it away with no benefit in 2018. It's overdue.

Looks good! Those boomless spray tips work well and with few parts but, will not do as quality spray job as traditional tips with the vertical mist.

A few hours isn't bad at all.

I made a boom for the sprayer I use on my 4-wheeler that covered about 10 feet. I rarely use it anymore because I bought a 60 gallon sprayer for the smaller tractor and it's just so much faster to spray with than a ATV or UTV.

However, there are times when the UTV or ATV is the best option, and in that case that's what I use. My ATV sprayer is only 15 gallons, so it wouldn't be practical for anything but small areas. A 40 gallon one like Barry's would definitely be better.

Got the field fertilized this morning.

Now waiting on a bit of rain.

Now you need a foam marker so there won't be too much overlap.

I don't know if I buy that. I got the biggest boomless that Northern Tool made and it will take a 30+ foot swath as easy as cake... I have sprayed fields and woods with it... you would never be able to do what I do with a boom.

I can see my tracks in the grass pretty easy, and spraying the liquid fertilizer, I usually go back over it.

I pick an approximate area with the size being the goal of what area I can spray.. (40 gallons can get me 1 1/2 acres)

Then I make one pass over all of slowly, then if I have liquid left, I go back across until my tank sucks air.

I agree 100%. I should have been more specific. When spraying over established soybeans or corn etc. in my experience the vertical mist does a better job.
