Fuel gages don't always work.

I hate running out of fuel if it's a diesel. Every Ford/New Holland I've had is a pain in the butt, and I always ended up having to bleed the injectors. My problem usually wasn't the fuel gauge, but me trying to run as long as I could before I had to stop and refuel.

I have a bad tank float sensor on a JD X495. I need to fix it but it's a job that has been getting put off for years now. Always topping off my fuel and watching the hour meter so I don't run dry.

It could have been worse, Jake saw the bar on the rear harrow scratcher that was about to fall off. It might have bent when it let go.

Just now a wheel bearing shucked out on the disk wing. Jake thinks he has one on hand. Like Buggs Bunny, not the first time this sort of thing has happened to me.

My fuel gauge has never worked on my 1975 IH 766. I refuel after every use, like it or not. I have never run it empty by doing this

The only thing I have run out of diesel is my 85gal transfer tank. smile

I really don't even like to do that.

The latest, a link that lifts the disk wing broke. It's in the shop, hope to get by Friday.

Is that what Whitey was working on? I was wondering what that was.

Yes Whitey. As I said he does good work, his boss Merle, teaches them well.

Grew up running old stuff that didn't have gauges.
Filling up was right after checking the oil and driving to the pump.

Away from home filling was first, from cans.

Never ran out.

Now the dam Jeep I had?
Gauge didn't work, so I used mileage.

I didn't notice when the tank started to leak.

That was a long walk!
Watch hours or miles...
After a few questionable gauges...
