Made it out to set limb lines with Layne and a friend last night to try to get Dalton into his first big flathead...mission accomplished! Limited on the # of lines we were able to set due to low water conditions and caught just two fish, but both were nice fish. Always fun when you see that big head come up out of the water and realize the net isn't going to help. Didn't weigh either one, but the smaller fish was 39" long and the bigger fish stretched the tape to 45". Probably in the 30# and 40# range for each. After some quick pictures both went back in to grow even bigger. Making memories...

How very cool! You are bring your kids AND theirs friends up right. Get out, have fun and leave some for the next time. You done good, Dad!

Nice fish too...
Thanks, Johnny. It was a fun weekend. Dalton is the son of a couple I used to teach with and loves to fish, so he and Layne enjoyed the trip. They even decided to set their tent up on the dock so they could listen for the bells on their poles while they were sleeping overnight. (background of one of the pictures) Dalton wasn't too sure about reaching into that fish's mouth to lift it up out of the water the first time, but did a nice job. It was the first time they have fished together, but I'm sure it won't be the last.
Congrats, well done from start to finish.
I Like those PFD's
I bet that if your son was on the Fire his screen name would be "Proud Son." You are doing it right Proud Dad!

Thanks. It's a rule that isn't open for discussion here. I bought the kayaks, so if someone wants to go out in the kayaks the PFD goes on before they pick up the paddle. There are some things I'm willing to debate, but this isn't one of them.

Thank you. I was lucky to have a Dad that took me fishing and hunting, so I am just trying to do for our kids what he did for me.
