I've been without a good portable ice shack for awhile and want to pick one up. I'm looking at a 2 man Clam Nanook XL (uninsulated) vs a Nanook XL Thermal (insulated) portable ice shacks.
The insulated shack is $100 more than the uninsulated shack. I've always used uninsulated shacks in the past, but am wondering if I should take a walk on the wild side and splurge for the thermal version ?
Anyone have experience with either one of these ?
Thanks, Vic
Unless you are out in pretty cold conditions (like below -10°F or so) the biggest advantage to insulated is that you don't get condensation inside like you do with a non insulated house, especially if it is snowing or sleeting out. If you're fishing a lot of days it snows a lot, it would be worth the 100 bucks not to get dripped on imho.

You'll also burn less fuel if you run heat with the insulated, so it'll pay for itself over time if you heat.
thermals are heavy if you are pulling by hand
