What the heck is a Mercury Bigfoot, what’s the difference between a Bigfoot and a regular Mercury 4 stroke outboard ?

From google.....

Bigfoot has different gears, made for pushing heavier loads. Ie. pontoon boats and kickers on larger boats.

High thrust kicker motors. I think they used a bigger diameter 4 blade prop than the standard Merc of the same HP.

25hp gear case and a high thrust 4 blade prop.

Speaking of Mercury motors.... did you see the new V 12 600 hp two speed motor? It has a lower unit that turns, upper unit stays stationary. Check out this video:

I believe the notation of heavier gears and lower end construction listed above is correct.
I recently purchased a pair of 50hp mercs and my dealer explained they are command thrust models, “ built like the bigfoots were “ in that they have a heavier lower and give up just a bit of top end speed.
Mine are tiller models, if that makes a difference?

My 25 hp Bigfoot had a 2.42/1 lower end and the 3 blade prop had a long pitch, like 14-18”?
