Hello all!
It looks like my wife and I will be travelling to Kansas City, Kansas from Tennessee in late October. I would like to do a little fishing along the way. Would have to be from the bank and no particular species. I'm not sure if we'll cross Missouri from Sikeston or from St. Louis. Any spots that might be promising this time of year? Might be able to consider a guided trip jut not sure at the moment.
Where would you go?
Thanks for the help!
Rick
Right below Truman Dam at Warsaw MO.
If you want to catfish and have surf rods, stop at one of the local bait shops and get frozen shad.
If you want to try for crappie, white bass or maybe a walleye then use jigs... 1/8 to 1/4oz. Pearl or green chartreuse 2" to 3" bodies and bring plenty, if you're not loosing jigs you're not fishing where the fish are.
Bring jig rods that you can cast a long ways... farther the better. Truman is low so they haven't been releasing much water and current makes the fishing much better there.
Two or three years ago I was fishing there on the rocks when I heard a commotion maybe 100yds upstream... a guy caught a 45" blue cat and it was the first time he had ever been there.

If you are in Warsaw and want breakfast there's a diner called Cow Patty's across from Casey's at the north end of the Hwy 7 bridge that has a big one... don't remember what it's called and if you are there you might as well go on out Hwy 7 3-4 more miles to the "mile long bridge" since you're that close.
