A friend and I are contemplating a float fishing trip to the Yukon Terr. later this year. It seems that N. Pike and Lake Trout are about the only species I can find listed as present there.

Has anyone fished the Yukon for other game species like rainbow, cutts, dollies, grayling etc?

We like to fish rivers and streams but we are flexible. Anyone got any thoughts on where to go to make a memorable float trip?
Thanks!

Grayling will be numerous.....but for the most part, the Yukon River Drainage has no rainbow or cutts and I haven't seen a dolly in YT.....There are a few rainbows near SE area of Kluane Lake....a real anomoly caused by lake drain being changed by a glacier .......Yukoner Ted can feed you better data....

Are you bringing a boat?.....this is more lake fishing country rather than river fishing country.

Yes, we would be bringing Watermaster Kodiak rafts or possibly canoes.

It sounds bad for the trout opportunities. I'd sure like to see the Yukon though.

Thank you.

Don't under estimate the lake trout in YT.....several good lakes/rivers accessible by canoe etc.....

Quiet Lake [lake trout]
Little Atlin Lake [pike]
Aishshik Lake [SP] [Lake Trout]
Seckleman [sp] [Lakers]
Dexadish Lake [lakers]
Lake Bennet [Lakers]
Teslin lake [lake trout]

That's just a few of the many lakes.

If you want more specifics, please PM me for with an email address so we talk off line and away from these blood thirsty friends at the Campfire.

Vern has pretty much nailed nailed it for you. Not much to fish on a float trip down the Yukon River, but as soon as you add a boat and motor to the mix things change! smile

We have some huge lake trout and pike, good rainbows, grayling, whitefish, inconnu and burbot.
