The technique we refer to when trout or other fish aree in a condition to be displayed over a log like that is . . . .

"Catch and Grease"

Brookies are still the fish of Beauty

You guy's are killing me. I used to live right next to a good trout cric in the Adirondacks, now I'm in Kansas... DOH

I have never seen Brookies with such a yellow belly. Those are beautiful

Years ago someone from the NE US I traded TC stuff told me he was off to Maine for a week.

After a week I got a simple msg from him. Brookies . . . up to 4 pounds. Not quite hat we are used to.

Someone I work with through contracts is off to retire to Lower Three Fathom Bay in Nova Scotia. River nearby has sea run Brookies . . . May have to visit once he settles in.

I note that it is amazing how folks can take pictures of nice fish with absolutely noting identifiable in the background.

After looking at the pictures posted here, my brother came up with a good observation

Brookies and Woodies are the runway models of their families
It is easier to walk down the sidewalk in NYC at lunchtime than to fish for trout in MO on the first of March.

Ya know we keep having these campfire Hog hunts, it wouldn't be a bad idea if the fly fisher troup here has a 24hr campfire fly fishing meeting at the white river in Arkansas.

Dat would be phun...
We are having a Rendezvous in Saratoga Wyoming in june which will involve trout fishing, but thats not the focus...

Its just a bash...

I have already been out fishing on my grandma's creek, it being so warm lately. I was on the way back home at the start of spring break and I stopped by my grandma's at the ranch for a couple days. I didn't have my fly rod with me so I was limited to the one spinner I used last fall.

I don't remember being successful on the creek that early in the year. But a couple torpedo browns and a few chunky rainbows was a great way to start the year off! smile

I was in Erie today, and wondering about the steelhead fishing lately.

Have to go back up tomorrow. May wander over to the creeks to have a look and see if anyone is doing any good...

Ingwe, thank you sir, you have some great photos too. Brightly colored brookies like those in your picture are gorgeous. Those and the Fine Spot Cuts, I think, are the prettiest trout that swim.

My wife is pretty handy with the lens and takes a lot of photos. A few more, I can't remember if I have posted them before, I apologize if I have.

one of my favorite photos....MT-MO Bows, covered in bugs, at one of the take outs on the Misery R.

I like fishing as much as hunting, 5 flyrods wait in the corner for the season to get going. The drift boat and float tubes are waiting as well. The first real trip of the year is to go to the Firehole in Yellowstone on the opener over Memorial Day weekend.

Then it is where ever we can see a rise throughout the summer and the last big weekend of the year on the Bighorn over Labor Day weekend.

Not all the fish are big, but the memories are...

[Linked Image]

This small creek has produced many fish and some really big...

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

Once in awhile a furry fish...

[Linked Image]

You have to keep your eyes peeled for rising fish, even in winter monthes when the midges show up where there is open water...

[Linked Image]

And where else you can find some nice fish lurking in the shadows...

went to the reservation today. I had 8 trout by 0800. including a hand catch. the biggest one all morning. scooped him right up and into the trees. we waded out a little island across 25 yards of cold knee deep fking water at 0630. air temp was 29 degrees so you can imagine the water temp. i got to get some waders. blue jeans and NB tennies dont keep out much water.
