Headed up to Bangor for work next week and will have the weekend (June 22-23) available. Im looking at driving up to Baxter State Park and fishing Lower Fowler or Lower South Branch for catch and release Brookies. I plan on looking for a spot I can hike into, more for the solitude vs. big fish, etc.

Any kind of special regs besides the lead sinker ban? Just going to be toting a spinning rod, do spinners have to be single hook? I've heard you can rent canoes from the park?

Thanks in advance.

Lower Fowler is fly fishing only. South Branch is a no live fish as bait. Spinners with a treble hook is fine in Lower South Branch

Thanks! I read a blog that also stated Lower Fowler is fly fish only as well, but when I called the park they said general? Do they change the regs within the park often?

Think I am going to look more at Long Pond/High pond area.

I’m hoping they meant General in terms of size and bag limits as it is fly fishing only.
