Due to health have been unable to fish for about 4 years.
Went out on the bank of the kootenai by my house and drowned some worms. Glorious day. Saw beaver, golden and bald eagles, couple hundred ducks and geese , swans about a 100.
Caught 6 white fish average 15 inches . One trout 16 inches, and a dozen suckers about 18 to 20 inches.
Going to smoke the white fish and trout.
It was balm to my soul. No tv yammering about the kung th flu. Glorious!
Sounds like a fine day to me!
Great day
Nothin wrong with those suckers either.
Just canned a run of suckers last week!

God Bless, Louis
That is a great river to fish. Sounds like a great day.

When I lived in Northern Idaho in the '70s and '80s, we used to fish the Oregon Wenaha river near the Idaho line a couple of times in the fall for whitefish. Smoked about 50 pounds of them (no limit then) and then used them for "tuna fish" for the rest of the year. They fight well but are pretty easy to catch in the fall. We used mainly live grasshoppers for bait and grasshopper flies when the rattlers got too thick to chase live hoppers. (Hopper chasing was a real "adventure sport"). We always got a few bull trout and Eastern Brooks along with the whitefish (and 'way too many squawfish). The trout we just fried right there on the river bank.
Actually, I lied. Thinking back on it I remember that the whitefish limit was 50 per day! Most people I knew had no idea what they were, and threw them back (or up on the bank) when they caught them by mistake....
