Can't find the 140s my Swede likes but found these 156s at Grafs at a reasonable price for now a few days ago. Anyone tried them in their Swedish Mauser?

They just arrived, don't look like a true RN to me as they have small flattened lead tip.
Are those bullets designed for the Italian 6.5? Might work.
Here's hoping a thousandth won't make that much if any real difference but I might have screwed up here. .
Powder coat them😆
For a 6.5 Wopper. Might work in code 0 Sweed.

Carcanos used a .268" bullet.
For early M91 Carcanos 267/268, later on bore sizes became closer to standard.
There is nothing wrong with those PPU bullets in a Swedish rifle. But; my experience
is PPU ammo in general was best shot as a source of brass. Keep your expectations
low and you should be fine.

Description: car 268
Attached picture Carcano_Hornady.JPG
Shot 1000s of rounds of PPU ammo, never an issue.

Accurate enough for intended purpose. From 22 Hornet to 9.3x74 "minute of critter".

A says it's bad, B,C and D repeat it, EFGHIJK parrot it back.

Of course none of them have ever run a comparative test with other like prices ammo.
I did not mean to imply PPU ammo was bad. When I thought PPU might be a source for 0.268 bullets, I was shopping around. Those Hornady 267 are discontinued. I would not consider buying any common available bullets from PPU if there was an alternative. In a NORMAL economy, I suggest the OP start with one of the 140 Hornady bullets in 264. My LGS has not had those (either form) for many months now. Not looked online.

A lot of the really interesting PPU stuff is shot in old mil surp guns. With open sights, hard to really know 1 moa from 2 or even 3 moa. Depends on the gun, the sights and the shooter. I use an eyepal and still struggle with some of those old irons.

I do actually shoot a lot of PPU. I measure groups and I reload.
Some previous talk on these bullets.

SPS has some 140gr ballistic tips, if you are wanting 140's. They are a little spendy at $23.95/50.

You may also want to check these out:
6.5 140gr ELD match bullets 500 count/$170.00

I have used this bullet in my Swede, but have shot thousands through my 6.5 cm rifles. ..

My M96 likes them though:

Shoots around moa with iron sights.. Things are starting to come around. I'm glad to see some of these bullets in stock.. Get them while you can.. Dang it, looks like the are out!!!
Thanks for the info. Forgot about powder valley.
Update on .263 PPU 156 RNs. Tried them today for first time. 98 degrees no wind. At 100 yds. with 35.2 gr of 4064. 6 0'clock hold on 12" bull. First three shots centered 4&1/2" low of center of bull with std. 300 yd. battle sight. Raised sight to 400 and next five shots were centered an inch above center of bull. 1.6" circular group. Minimal recoil, around 2300fps. based on Hodgdon info. Should be a decent 100 yard load.
Further than that if you simply zero appropriately with a scope, too.

Sounds like you are not running the "300 yd (actually meter) battle sight", but you are running your +2 front sight you were talking about in another thread. Correct me if I'm wrong, but an actual original 300 meter battle sight would put you about 11" high on the target (+/- 2") BTDT. You are shooting low if you want to keep that 6'oclock hold and be in the x-ring. Like I said in a different thread, the +1.5 works very well in that regard. While shooting at a recent militarry rifle shoot, I managed to keep them all in the 10 ring and a few in the x-ring with the +1.5 front post. For chits and giggles I ran the 129gr Hornady interlock in one of the matches and as luck would have it, the loads I ran all printed into the same poi. The 129gr SP interlock is a good bullet, but there are much better bullets out there for shooting tight groups. The other bullets I used were the 140gr Sierra, 140 ELDM and 140 Barnes match burners. All exceptional shooting bullets in my old Swede. If you want to hunt and practice with the 129gr sp interlock, it is great for that. Keep us posted on your results. The swede is a cool old rifle and the 6.5x55 very inherently accurate.
Yep, using the +2 front sight. You're right about the original front sight with 140 gr bullets. Mine shot them 11 or 12 inches high at a hundred. The 156s and +2 sight changes the 100 yard POI considerably. I was looking for 140s when I found the 156 .263 PPUs at Graf's. Can't complain at this point. Four of the shots in that group were a little inside an inch so I'm pretty sure the outsider wasn't the bullets fault.

When I got back from the range I realized I'd put a little over 100 rounds through the rifle since I last cleaned it so did that this morning. Now I'm wondering if I should have left it alone. It was doing ok dirty on a hot day and it never really cooled off.

My rifle shoots pretty good dirty and hot. Not sure if they are all that way. But after running 4 matches, 3 back to back (60 rounds of ammo), I was surprised I was still keeping most of them in the 10 ring. Great shooting rifles, even when dirty and hot.
Many years ago I acquired some .263 129 gr. RN bullets that came in a ziplock bag, so I have no idea what brand they were. I decided they were Hornady, and this was years ago before PPU was importing component bullets. In my M96 they were just as accurate as the Hornady .264 129 gr. spire point.

I found some of these bullets the other day, but they look like a semi spitzer, not a round nosed bullet. Any more updates on how yours are shooting in your rifle? I may load some of these up and see how they do. I haven't shot my Swede in a while..
I haven't tried the Swede since the above post. I've been shooting the No 4 Enfield I got a few weeks back instead. Real different rifles. I like them both..

Very good shooting, if I did not say it before. To shoot 1.6" 5 shot groups with irons is something not everyone can do. I may just take some of these bullets to the range and try them out. I'll post results, if I decide to do it.
Thanks but I shot those off a very good bench setup. I quit after that group so don't know if I could repeat it. Could have just been lucky. Good range session lucky or not. I learned something about how those sights work with a different weight bullet.
