What is the length of pull on the type S stock? I have one that seems to be cut down. Is that something that could be ordered from Springfield?
The 1903 has a relatively short stock. I measured 2 that I have and the pull is about 12.75" . Clark Campbell's book says 12.74". I don't think you can get stocks from Springfield but several people on the internet make replacment stocks and there is always ebay.
And that makes sense because, 1) Men were smaller on average when these stocks were designed, and 2) One-size-fits-all is smaller than one-size-fits-most...LOL
It seems to me that the Garand also has a short(er) length of pull.
The S stocks I have measure 12 3/4" LOP. My C stocks measure 13". M2 with type B stock is 13 1/4", the Style T bull gun measures 13 1/2", and the NRA Sporter 12 3/4" (which is odd because the T and the Sporter utilize the same M1922 stock).
My Garand measures 13 1/4".
