I recently took possession of a Lee Enfield mk V dated 1922. My research indicates that it is what was called a "trials" rifle, built with experimental aperture sights in 1922 and 1923. I believe it evolved into the Mk VI version though I'm not sure. There's some information about the rifle itself on line but I was curious if any of these guns ever actually made it into battle. Thought some of you more knowledgeable folks might have some information. Many thanks.

That is a pretty good find. There were around 20,000 of them made, and so they are pretty uncommon. They did lead to the Mk VI, which was the progenitor of the No 4.

It is a bit hard to find details of service in WWII, but given the desperate shortage of rifles in the early part of the war, especially following Dunkirk, I'd be a bit surprised if they weren't pressed into service somewhere.
