I have a 98 Mauser that brought back to the US by an older gentleman returning from a tour in GY back in the 60's (I recall).
The name on the barrel is " A Biemelt Oberamergau, GY. " my belief is that this was the gunsmith that converted the rifle to 308 as well as fit double set triggers, claw mounts. No special engraving or gaudy wood configuration.

Anyone have a text or other resource that may further identify the 'smith?

Thanks for any input.

Can you post more pictures? It would be ideal to see the entire rifle.

A couple more added to gallery. I'll have to pull the rifle out of the safe and take more pics. These pics were taken a few years ago to show the scope. No promises on when I get more pics up as I recall the rifle is in the back of a stacked safe.

Böhler stahl is the barrel maker; Böhler steel. Not the model of the rifle.

Böhler spezial stahl = Böhler special steel
