Just got this in a trade this past week. It is suppose to be an O.W. DeMIller (Missoula MT) build. The action is marked Gew. 98, the barrel is marked 270, the aperture sight is a Lyman 48M in 270 Win.

I tried to post a picture but it will not allow as it is 1MB.
It is good to get your hands on something good. Hope it shoots good for you. I too have a couple of Mausers.
Try imgur for posting pictures
Thanks will try that.
POTOS!!! RESIZE!!!

My "Windows 10 Pro"... With built in quite decent resizer program!!! On JPG or like formats... Right click on photo to open dialogue box. About halfway down the list, click on "Resize". From there you can resize the original or make a resized copy with original intact. The program typically also offers several resize resulting size options. Somewhere around 100-200 should work. Amazingly for average viewing, can't tell the heavyweight original from the above sized photos!

In this system, nothing to download. Moreover you can resize multiple photos at once as long as the same size result to be obtained.

No muss, no fuss. I'd not experiment with precious family photos, but it's always worked for me over a variety of formats. If it won't work, it will advise before getting into the process!

Best & good luck!
John

Postscript. Just pulled this sample pix from the Net, resized & it worked fine! Ta Da! smile

Thanks jstuart.
That’s a great lookin sporter. Nice sight, too. I’d be happy to own that one. You gonna hunt it this year?
I have to take it out to the range one more time but it is in the lineup for this year.
Nice!
For my money, the Lyman 48 in about all its forms, the greatest tech and most svelte of the several fully adjustable receiver sights of its class! Your model shown appears the second of three models. The fist with a 150 denominated slide. Yours, 125 and more practical for most purposes. Your sub-style earlier version with small adujstment knobs. Itself, likely pre WWII and 'renesting' on your postwar build. The one significant downside of this great sight, IF ever removed permanently, leaving one very large inletting canyon. The third model, considerably smaller slide but in most cases, installed without need to inlet. The net, net here as I see it, a plus due to the great Lyman nesting there!
Below, reference pix, second model Lyman 48, as original govt installed equipped on genuine US Springfield, "NRA Sporter", c. 1924.
Congrats on that nice looking rifle there! smile
My take.
