Were the so called "Persian Mausers" built in Europe or were they built under license in what was then Persia and what is now Iran?

I believe the very early were manuf for Persia at Mauserwerke, and later, the vast majority were produced at BRNO by the Czechs. Gunboards will have a more definitive answer.

In addition to the Czech model VZ 24 short rifles, there were Persian model 1895 rifles, FN model 24/30 short rifles, Czech made model 98/29 long rifles, Czech made model 30 carbines and even Iranian model 49 carbines (factory set up Mosalsalsasi by the Czechs).

Persian Mausers are Czech produced and are some of the finest Mausers ever produced. Many are still in beautiful condition. I would post photos of mine but I never figured out how to post photos on this type of system. Arguably the Czechs made finer K98K's than the Germans or Austrians. If you like I can paraphrase excerpts from Military Mausers of the World as to their pedigree. Nice ones are not cheap.

I bought a Czech made 98/29 from the importer SAMCO.

I got an all matching never fired long rifle WITH the factory test target with same serial number, dated and signed by the shooter. SAMCO said this batch of rifles were issued to the "Immortal 10,000" palace guards.
I'll never sell it.

A nondescript pre WWII FN carbine matching barreled action in 8mm, purchased in "Bubba-art" stock remnant; latter discarded. Dropping the metal into a stock with handguard, bands etc, identified as a Persian carbine. Where it's yet resting. Fit & function perfect and looks decent except for the handguard. Apparently for a full tangent sight rather than carbine reflected on the FN. My presumption the Persian carbine utilized this longer length tangent sight.
The question of whether I have the correct handguard for the stock reflected in the several pix below.

serial numbers starting with '1234 T3' are made Berno city factory , in 1940 iran machine gun factory started making their own.

It looks like your stock may have been from the Iranian model 49 carbine, judging by the nose cap, side sling front band and the hand guard cut-out for the longer rear sight.

How do you know that it is an FN rifle?

Hmmmmmmmmm.......covet not thy neighbor's mauser. 11th commandment. Just to make it worse let me get a couple photos. Maybe if I get them into the data base someone can transfer them to a post. I never had so much trouble with pictures. Of course it has nothing to do with my headed deep in to my 70's.
