Why does no one make 16 gauge shells in steel that can be used for upland hunting? State game lands here require nontoxics for dove and shot size no larger than # 6. There are 20 and 12 gauge options but no 16 gauge options.

You can get Hevi shot and Bismuth in #6

Guess you gotta reload for smaller.

Thanks for the RST recommendation. Will give them a try.

You betcha. They shoot great in my LC Smith 16.

I got some RST 2 1/2 inch 16s for an old short-chambered Model 12. They worked fine, but did seem to leave more residue in the barrel than other shells. Bore-snake tool care of it, no problems.

A NOTE TO ALL: RST said its copper shells are copper plated LEAD shot, not some form of copper alloy. They have bismuth shot that is USFW approved as nontoxic.

I know you didn't ask, but they aren't too hard to load yourself.
