I have a Stevens 311 in 16ga, 28" M/F. Is it any good?
Solid and dependable guns, not very classy or svelte especially if it has the scours yellow wood many came with.
They are certainly stout and about bulletproof. The only problem with them of which I'm aware is a propensity for the head of the stock to crack and I think that largely results from not keeping the stock through bolt tight.
I have one that was my father's. The problem with it is that it just isn't nearly as light or as well balanced as most of the better quality side by side shotguns and I've been spoiled by owning some much better quality guns. That being said, I still pull it out periodically and take it skeet shooting, just because it was dad's.
I agree that it’s not a classy double or light weight. But with that being said, it’s always had the best feature a gun can have and that’s always going bang! It has yet to let me down and has killled a pile of birds over the years.
