There are no great hulls being made for the 16 ga. Cheddites are probably the best way to go. Ballistic Products often has 16 ga cheddite hulls for sale.
Years ago, Winchester made good hulls for the 16 ga, but they have been discontinued a long time. Those hulls are very scarce and generally expensive.

I have a near lifetime supply of both the old Winchester compression formed hulls and the black Remington Game Load hulls. Right now I'm loading the Remington hulls, using the old blue Remington 1-1/8 ounce wads with a 1/8 inch card filler and 7/8 ounce of shot. I happen to be using Universal powder because that's what I had on hand.

Some of the older Lyman manuals should have data for Superfield and AA473 if they were tested and used for 16 gauge loading. If you cannot find one of them, send me a PM with an email or cell phone number and I'll scan the pages in. I have a number of the older Lyman manuals dating back to the 1960s.

With those ball powders I would stick to black beauties or compression formed AA style hulls with long skirted plastic wads like AA or the clay buster clones. You'll have less powder drift...mb

Remington game load (RGL). They have a black plastic hull.

I've been using Cheddites, Federals and Fiocchis the last few years with components from BPI. Federals I've had the most reloads on, still going on the originals. I think I'm going on my 5th or 6th round on some of them. I use primarily Longshot, I just have a lot it. I'm pretty novice when it comes to loading but so far using the SG wads on BPI or the remington SP 1-1/8 wads with a packing peanut, I have not experienced any inconsistency in firing due to powder migration.
