Hey guys, if you were going to only buy one powder for 16ga 1oz clays and field loads, which powder would you buy?

Probably going to use Remmy high brass black hulls, bpi wads, and currently available cheddite 209's. #8 shot for clays, #5 for field.

Not looking for high velocity, all my 16ga guns are 80-100 years old.

Thanks!

If I had to pick one for 1 oz loads it would be long shot.

My preference is 700x. Longshot around here is called loudshot. After shooting couple ibs of that stuff I believe it's way overated.

I’ve used Longshot in 28, 20, 16 and 12 ga heavier/fast loads for years, with great success.
For lighter or target loads for the 16 ga, I use Unique.
I’ve not used 700x.

I use WSF or SR7625. Both work very well at moderaate pressures. But I do not use loads heavier than one ounce. I load WAA16 hulls with Win 16 gauge blues wads mainly.

I'm no fan of long shot. I use 700x and 20/28 on all my 16 hulls.

I use longshot in my 2.5" 1oz NP BB coyote loads for my drilling. Kills them "deader than dead" to quote Geo. Herter.

I use 700x, like the smell with paper hulls.
