Guys:

Attached is the first spreadsheet that I have. I am going to try to find a way to display it in full here, but I need to work on the formatting first.

Also, I don't know what the complete file may look like, as I was only sporadically receiving emails the last couple years. Any input and contribution to augment completeness is welcome!

I am not sure how to reach the entire groups (someone emailed me that there were actually two lists). If folks could help spread the word to all interested parties, I would also appreciate it.

All other comments and questions welcomed!

Thanks for the information....

Took me a while to get signed up just to get this data, but worth it.
I have a few of the older (ca. 2016) spreadsheets if they'd be of interest, though that data might all be covered by the Book 2 spreadsheet listed above.

I am new to using 16 gauge shotgun. I have a Browning Gran Lightning 16 ga O/U 26" barrel. Would appreciate load data using clay buster wads and Unique powder if possible. Have RP and Federal hulls.

Thanks for any help

Steel load list appears to be for 20 gauge.
Posted By: Billewe Re: 16 GAUGE RELOADING DATA - 10/26/20
Yes their are two different sheets. The other has much more loads and info. But I don't know how to retrieve it. Bill

I am looking for reloading data for 16 guage Fiocci 2 3/4" shells. I know they can be reloaded. I have the hulls, Claybuster WAA16 wads and was planning either 1 ounce or 1-1/8 ounce loads. I currently have Alliant Green Dot powder on hand, but was going to see if I can get either some Herco, Unique or Blue Dot. (Just depends on what is in stock on the reload shop.) However, I can't seem to find any data on the amount of powder to use with the WAA16 wads. I know there is data for 1 ounce loads with the Green Dot, but I can't seem to find what the powder charge is? I would just switch to the SP 16 wads, but I happen to have 1000 WAA16 wads that were given to me that I would like to use.

I have data for the SP 16 wads, but nothing for the other. Anyone have any information on powder charge for 1 ounce or 1-1/8 ounce loads using the Claybuster WAA 16 wad?

Thanks!
I'm looking for relatively low pressure 16 Gauge 7/8 ounce and 1 ounce loads (something suitable for European side by sides from the late pre-WWII and early post WWII era) for Winchester Compression Formed hulls and/or Remington black hulls, using Claybuster 0100-16 (WAA-16 equivalent) wads. I cannot find anything in any of my reloading manuals. As I have about 1000 of each version of the hulls and several thousand of the wads, I'd like to put them to use.

I have available Federal (my first choice as I have several thousand), Winchester, CCI and a small quantity of Remington 209 primers.

For available powders, I have Unique, Bullseye, PB, 7625, Red Dot, Green Dot, Blue Dot, 2400, Clays, Universal and International.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

Where are the other loads with all the different types of wads? All that is shown now are only BP wads.
Posted By: Magnum_Bob Re: 16 GAUGE RELOADING DATA - 11/24/20
Well from an old IMR powder catalog PB, SR7625, SR4756 were the powders of choice for low pressure 1100-1200 fps field loads. They did list loads in a AA style hull with Remington R-16 wads which are no longer available. Rem has only made the SP-16 1 1/8oz wad for the last 30 years. The rem " black beauty hull" and older compression formed AA style ww hulls are really the only use for your AA or AA claybuster clone wads as they are.made for tapered hulls. You need bp or precision reloading wads or sp-16 for straight wall hull use for lower pressure loads ot you get to much blow by. Hit the gun shows look for those powders, probably wouldn't hurt to snag any 16 ga. Nitro cards and felt / fiber wads wad you see and older Lyman shotshell loading manuals too. 3rd edn. And older. Most loading data shows pressures in the 9600- 10700psi range for shot cup wads in plastic base wad hulls.
One old ww powder catalog I have shows 1 oz 16 ga loads with Aa style hulls and AA as well as SP16 wads utilizing wsf,540 ,and 571 powders for 1165 fps in the 8300-8700 psi range. That was from a WW1994 powder catalog. Finding the data from old powder catalogs and the Lyman manuals will get you on the road. The factory 2.5" RST loads are spendy but work well under 35 yds. Good luck . MB

In addendum the 2019 issue of the Hodgdon Reloading Manual has an excellent article by Ross Seyfried on how to do and what to use to get where you want to be. MB
Hello! New here and new to the 16ga world but glad I finally have arrived.

It seems like both the files labeled 16ga steel are actually 20ga data - am I missing something? Where is the steel data for 16ga? Thanks.

Hi there, own two 16s. An old Steven’s pump and a newer citori. Just wanted to say thank you very much for the information. Waiting on my MEC 600 to arrive and trying to piecemeal components. Thanks again!
Hi all, first post. I joined specifically for the 16 gauge forums. I have asked this question on other forums/groups and received a lot of smart ass comments but no help. So here it goes, If a 2-3/4" recipe fits in a 2-1/2" shell, will pressure rise? I found a load in the lyman book that fits in a cut Federal hull. Its advertised at 7400PSI.

Thanks for any input!

Is the steel fiocchi loads for 16 gauge or 20? Can I substitute tss for steel?

Negative. There is tss data out there.
Posted By: Kfactor312 Re: 16 GAUGE RELOADING DATA - 11/04/21
So the exact same weight in grains of tss isn't the same as the same weight of steel? So when you make duplex steel/ tss you don't remove a certain weight in grains of steel from the load and substitute tss in the amount of grains that was removed?

Howdy
I had the spreadsheets a few years ago, but lost them. Back then, they had lots more loads then what I'm seeing here... different wads, steel shot, itx, etc... am I missing something?
A member over in the 16 gauge society originally put the data together. I received a copy back around 2014 and since then took on the painstaking task to review each load. I color coded those loads I could verify and find a few along the way that had issues with data entry or maybe a disagreement on what wad was actually being called out. I have been known to share my copy with people privately as long as they understand using it is at your own risk.

I've been reloading shotshells and centerfire for 15 years, but I'm new to the 16 ga. So far I'd say the biggest challenge has been learning which 16ga components work well together and which ones don't. Lots of nuance in the 16. The old 16 gauge Society forum has been extremely helpful, but I found it too late to join. When I discovered that many had migrated to this website, I couldn't sign up fast enough. I just downloaded the data above, thanks to everyone who has worked to put this together.

Charlie16ga, I'd love to see the data you have if you don't mind sharing. I tried to PM you but I don't have sufficient privileges on this site yet, and not sure how many posts that takes.
I’m out of state on vacation so I’ll touch base with you towards the end of the week.

I've been looking for SP 16 wads but, so far no luck. Maybe some will come in a store near me soon.
Namekagon,

I see you are at a limit. If you post a few more times on things, it should open you up for receiving more private messages!

ah, then post away I will!

I would also like to get a copy of the list if possible.

I realize this post is a couple months old but I too am interested in load data for the 16. If you read this post Charlie, would love a copy of your spreadsheet. Thanks all!

Go back to page 1 and Rick Bin post he has 2 downloadable pdf files.

The steel data appears to be for 20 ga. I’m looking for any 16 ga non-tox recipes for cheddite (Winchester) hulls. Thanks.

Just joined. Looks like a great site, but finding all the 16 ga data is icing on the cake.

Thanks !!!

Charlie, the two loading data you emailed me was great. But now I've got a problem. I went back into my file to pull them up but they are gone. Something I must have done wrong. I am not a computer person . But if you have the patience would you email me another copy of the two sheets. Sorry Bill

Would it be possible to get a copy of your spread sheet? Thanks Keith giffin
