Picked up some 240gr JSP Deep Curls to load for deer control. Seems to be some folks that say because of the curved base of the bullet, there can be pressure issues with normal charges?? Any truth to that? I've got a bunch of Unique and Universal that I was planning to use for it...Don't need or want Buffalo Bore type recoil, I figure something around 1100fps will take care of 100lb deer with no problem at 40 yards and in. Any suggestions?

No pressure issues with normal charges, but max charges with other 240s are going to generate above-spec pressure with the Deep Curls. Not sure what gun you are using, as barrel length is going to have a lot to do with velocity, but nearly any powder you can pick besides the very slowest will get you to 1100 quite effectively. 8.5-9gr Titegroup or 9-9.5gr W231/HP38 or 9.5-10gr Unique would be some fast burning powders that should get you to 1100.

Thanks. 7.5” SBH. The only pistol powder I’ve got is Universal and Unique. It shoots 9-10gr of Unique with a 240gr cast swc pretty good.
Both Universal and Unique will do what you want loaded under the 240 Deep Curls, which will produce a bit less velocity with the same powder charges than the cast bullets will.
Pretty sure the Deep Curl and Gold Dots are one in the same. Same bullet part number. They are not a true jacket bullet. They are plated, but a thick plating. And It’s always been my believe that you could max them out and have less pressure then are jacketed bullet.

I run 'em up to 1,300fps in my M629 over a top end charge of H110/W296 with great satisfaction.
I’d try Unique and shoot a few 5 shot groups using the data range provided above and if see if there is a sweet spot for accuracy.

Good luck!
10g of unique is a 240 load i know some oldtimers always used. One used the same 10g unique with 255g swc lead in his vaquero 45 colt too. He used the same charge in both so he didn't have to mess with his powder dump. Said the 44 load with 240s was about 1100fps IIRC and the 255 cast 45lc load was about 1000fps.
