HEY ALL...Some results from two days ago....6" BBL...series 1,2 &3 ...ORIGINAL ANCIENT Lyman mold...it is also marked "IDEAL"...looks like it was made yesterday...casts perfect hollow point bullets...225gr with Lyman #2 Alloy...
Series 4,5&6 RCBS 250K mold ...252gr with Lyman #2 Alloy...
series 1 results a little strange when compared to series 2 & 3..???? am going to bump up the CFE-Pistol charge to 11gr...looking for a hair over 1200 fps...
The 2400 loads were really fast...no flat primers..CCI 300's...and muzzle blast and recoil is FIERCE.....COLT tolerances are TIGHT....

2400 and lead in that cartridge has been really good in my gun. I've never shot one of the big Colts. I'm surprised you went 20grs in that gun. It must be a solid performer.
Hey Earlyagain...Handloader #326 June 2020 issue..page 48...Brian Pearce goes up to 21.3 gr 2400 @ 1405FPS to duplicate the Elmer Keith load...!!!! The Alliant Powder Guide shows a MAX. of 20gr 2400 for 1380 fps... !!! I stopped at the Alliant MAX....it is a BEAR to shoot....and FAST...no flat primers or sticky extraction...am of the opinion that COLT has held very tight tolerances in these new snake revolvers...!!!!

Looks like it's giving you fun times. Maybe even more to come if it rides along on a woods adventure.
