Can I get by with it? Not loading the 454 to the extreme for sure.

Yes,you can use 45Colt dies to reload 454Casull

FYI-
Any 45Colt or 454Casull brass fired in any S/A or DA/SA platform will NOT & can NOT be resized to chamber in a Freedom Arms Revolver cylinder.
(Freedom Arms cylinders are counterbored to include the rim)
