I will ask my question here in the correct place in the new Handgun Reloading section. I had trouble finding data for the AE but especially the 275 gr bullets with H110. I chose H110/ W296 as it should produce enough gas to run the action. I have both XPBs and plated HPs. Can folks share their loads from books or tested loads? The Barnes manual said the 275 gr XPB is for single shots and revolvers only. I guess the bullet had feeding problems. I may have to use the cast/plated HPs in my 50 GI. When I get a proper load tested I will report back. H110 has a habit of a narrow range of loads such as one or 1.5 gr from Start load to Max. Thanks to the guys who already responded. I have loaded a bunch of 50ae for indoor range use, and used the 300gr plated from Berrys, Speer, and Rainier. The powders were WC820 and 1680 because they were cheap, H110/296, IMR4227, and several others. The wc820 and 4227 at 29 grs functioned the gun and pleased the 10 yard tourist shooters, accuracy was moot.
I also load for my AR conversion that has a modified chamber for OAL length and havent found a really bad load in all the testing and shooting that I have done, if the powder loaded functioned the action, it was usually accurate at least to 100 yds. The 1680 / 350gr Berrys combo is a real buttkicker on steel out to 200yds(rifle), but a little noisy in the pistol.
I had some issues with the dies at first, couldnt get the case to hold the bullet in tension, and the crimp was less than effective, RCBS and Lee dies both had issues. I swaged the plated 350 and 335 bullets up to .5015 and the problems went away. Nothing irritates me more that a bullet stuck in the throat when I clear the gun and the cause was inertia had seated the bullet in the lead when chambered and it was pulled from the case when extracting the live round. Powder all through the action, yuck.... I have omitted the loads, but you will find the Speer manuals have a good selection to work with.
So now I need to get a Speer book? I guess I can do that. The AR conversion sounds good. Thanks for the info. Be Well, Rustyzipper.

Happen to have my old load book lying right here, used to load 33gr H-110 under a 325gr Speer unicorn? for an old Buddy, I'd start there with your 300gr bullets and work up with a chrono, he was North of 1400 fps in a Desert Eagle 50 AE.

Came back to this. I'm using the CCI LP Magnum primers for the heat and for the sturdy cups they are made with. Somewhere I saw the photos of Winchester LPs cratering badly where the same load with CCI mags were looking good. I use the CCI in 458 SOCOM too. Thanks for the data. I keep H110/296. I have a three pound steel Folgers can mostly full. It goes down pretty slowly from such a large container. Be Well, Rustyzipper.
