An exposed hammer, tubular magazine, bolt action rifle in 45-70 made in the late 1870s and early 1880s.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs armed the reservation police with them.
When I saw it I recalled some of the history of that model.

Looks like that particular rifle was in the back of somebody’s closet for a very long time….

That's pretty cool. I never knew those existed. Too bad about the cracks in the wrist though.

Your welcome.

I thought that it was a cool enough, unusual enough, Remington to interest other REM guys.

The Remington-Keene shows up in movies now and then: Sons of Katie Elder, Joe Kidd, Crossfire Trail, few others.

Was it also in Walk the Proud Land with Audy Murphy?
Saw one of these up close and personal in the Fuller collection at Chickamauga. Which by the way if you’ve never been to Chickamauga Civil War battlefield and seen the (500+) long gun collection you are truly missing out. It is insane.
