I have a friend that moved to Florida and I’m doing some research about what there is I to do there...

I was happy to learn about shrimping... COOL...

When I’m reading on Stone Crabs, I was surprised to watch people snap a claw or both off and toss them back... wow !!

I’m used to Delaware Blue Crab - so this seems weird.
Pretty sure they will grow them back. Otherwise they wouldn't do it.
Yes...they grow back. There is a minimum size on the claw required before you can harvest the claw. A lot of times you will see crabs with one much larger claw and a smaller claw...kind of a rotation of harvesting so to speak.

The law in SC used to be you only take the biggest claw. That leaves them with a defense. Best meat of all crabs to me.
Stone crab is killer.

Yep, snap the claw and it grows back. There is significant mortality but no where near 100%. I think they figure 30-40%?
