I’m heading to Cabo soon, thinking about packing a spinning outfit and some jigs to pitch from the beach. Anyone ever done this before? I like to fish but unless I have a decent shot at catching anything I’d rather drink margaritas.

P
I’m interested in this as well.
I'm interested in the Margaritas. Are they really big and stout? How many is one allowed in a day, and are they very expensive?

Have buddy that took a stab at fly fishing in some rocky surf with streamers down there. He picked up a couple roosters, and thought he'd try casting gear and hardware (spoons, jigs, and plugs) for his next go around. He and his wife were doing the camping thing in a rather remote area and had a heavily armed party stop by to give them a once over. Said he offered up near all of his beer supply, and they suffered no harm.

Good luck and do let us know how things shake out,
Gonna buy hooch local, and limes. Stout as I want. Mebbe take my pants off, who knows?
Cabo Wabo!
Anything chrome works great. Don't use anything heavier than 12 pound test.

There is a fish called Sierra that are excellent eating that can be caught off the beach.

I’d at least reach out for some info.

A buddy of mine suggested Cabosurfcaster as well. I sent him an email.

Thanks!

Yeah man. Hope it works out.

Such a great fishery and cool country. I Look forward to a report!
Remote camping anywhere in Mexico is probably not a good idea.

What'd ya end up with?
I'm headed to Puerto Vallarta in a month or so. Kinda thinking about picking up a surf rod to pack along.

Should probably look and see wjat the airline will let me pack without charging a kidney for "oversize" baggage🤔
I fish the beaches N of Del Cabo on the east cape of Baja. One oz Blade baits work really well, spoons, large senkos too

I took a four piece 12' pack spinning rod made by Rapala, and a spinning reel filled with 40 lb. braid. I just fished bait on droppers and a sinker on the end. Worked OK, but i'm still learning.

It's a great idea until it's not. Kinda like petting the bison in Yellowstone or going to the mall.
I caught 30# Roosters and yellowtail trolling 50’ from the beach around Los Arcos. We were trolling up and down the beach hooking fish after fish.

Good luck and have fun. Show us the time share you were forced to buy once you get back. 😁
