Tuna tourney - shotgun start - 07/24/21
Anybody out there fish tournaments like this with a shotgun start?
What a rush of adrenaline, when the USCG shoots the flare and thousands of horsepower go full throttle at the same time.
This is a rather grainy footage of the 2008 OTC at Garibaldi, but you can still get the drift. About 60 or so boats all trying to stay lined up on an imaginary N/S line, bobbing around waiting for the tourney organizer to check in the roster over the VHF. When everyone is checked in, he gives the CG the go-ahead to shoot the flare.

The boat at 3:01 - 3:05 is my current one. I bought it from the previous owner the year after this footage was taken.
Tuna are here now, but I'm probably going to be missing most of the season, dangit. I hope to get out once or twice maybe, but that's about it.
