I had a very good summer and was super spoiled by being able to go to Alaska for a few days. I know there are guys on this site that catch much bigger fish, but for this boy that rarely gets to ocean fish, I was more than super happy. I truly envy you guys in Alaska and along the northwest coast that have this kind of fishing out your doors.

This yellow eye was a bucket list fish. These fish are very old and we were only allowed to have one. I was grateful to catch one as many people on the charter boats never had a chance at one.

I felt even more lucky when I landed this halibut that was big enough to join the Barn Door Club. He was over 100 lbs. We caught a lot of fish while up there including king salmon, china rockfish, and black rockfish. The only thing I regretted was not staying longer. It was really hard to get on the plane to fly home!

My son and I were up in Sitka at the end of July. We weren't allowed to keep Yelloweye. One of the main reasons I wanted to go there. I caught a 100 lbs. halibut and my son a 65 pounder. Lot's of salmon and rockfish and Lingcod. We had excellent weather and a great time. Even had brown bear outside out lodge every night.

It's a pretty special place. I forgot about the ling cod. They caught a couple on our boat, but it wasn't ling season so we had to let them go.
Very cool Big Sky. I love those yelloweye, best eating of the white fleshed fish out there as far as I'm concerned.
What part of the state did you visit?

Envious of the halibut. Wife and I caught 1 each down here in Oregon, but not up to yours size wise.
What's your next adventure?
