Lahina is just around the corner, I'm in Pa'ia...north shore area.

I was thinking I'd like to get the right Tackle and just fish from shore a bit.

From my research he’s got pretty good reviews. I too would like to hear from someone that has fished with him

Over a decade of reviews. On my web site for older ones and on TripAdvisor for the newer ones. In the words of Popeye, "I am what I am". Each trip the fishing opportunities change and so do the people. Good and bad on both. The reviews will give you the general idea. BTW, no crew. I run a 35' flybridge single handed. YOU are my crew. Capt. Jeff

I'd not pay for a charter on a 35' boat without a 1st mate, someone needs to be at the helm and someone needs to rigging lines, bait, and helping clients YMMV

I would love to fish it, we know how to fish and how to rig rods, I don't need any baby sitting or added beer time, I'm a hands on guy, and think it would be a great time, and one less set of feet to trip over.

Good if you know how to rig ballyhoo, hand line a Marlin and gaff fish

Ya for sure!! That’s fishing

When working for a lodge, I ran a 32' with 6 anglers for 10 years. No deckhand. I could keep up in a wide open bites, as well as controlling the boat in brutal weather thanks to an aft steering station. I.had a mate a few times and they just got in the way. Never did a client have to bait his own hook, gaff a fish, or help out in any way. I did appreciate the guys who would grab a deck hose and hose off the back deck. Many days it would be 36 cohos, 6 kings, 6 halibut, 6 yellow eye, 6 lingcod, and 30 black bass. You can catch a lot of fish in a 10 hour day. With a near 100% rebooking rate.

So, no deckhand wouldn't bother me.

That’s pretty god damn impressive Joel.... that’s allotta lines to tend to...

I fished with a guy this summer who ran 7 lines, captained the boat, tended bar, catered lunch, and supervised a pedicure all on his own.

Ya good stuff!! If ya got er dialed, you got er dialed!

Lol so I did! but I didn't have to back down on a marlin
I've run as many as 11 lines at once but fishing for trout and salmon is a different prospect
When I charter a boat for blue water fishing I'm by myself and when you are hooked up with a billfish someone better be manning the helm and throttle

I’ve fished billfish in Hawaii and Mexico. The Mexicans just throw er in neutral and make you work the fish in. Hawaii the captain stayed on the fish, making it easier. Old lady and I sat in the chair 45 minutes a piece in Mexico without laying eyes on one. Hellava workout in 100 degree weather

Anybody that thinks a charter without a first mate and doing all the stuff Dan mentioned themselves (and then some) is a good idea is just being a dumb phughk. Sorry, that's just the way it is.
