Remington 700KS from the Custom Shop, chambered in 3006 (SCOPE NOT INCLUDED). I have made a couple of modifications to the rifle: 1) the metal (including the bolt)has been cerakoted, and 2) the Kevlar stock has been coated by Bell and Carlson with a textured rubber finish. In short, the rifle is built to take a tremendous amount of abuse.

I have owned the rifle for approx 10-years and I can tell you it shoots better than I am capable of and it's particularly fond of 180gr. Nosler Partitions seated over 55.20gr of IMR4350.

Asking $1,350+shipping.

Just noticed this was your first post. Welcome to the ‘fire. You may want to throw up a couple more pics (left side of rifle, etc) as there is sometimes a decent amount of caution exercised with new posters whose first post is a sales ad. Cheers.

I’ll put up additional photos tomorrow. The bolt was fluted by the company that did the cyrakoting. (That was a while ago). I don’t recall the name of the company but they were southwest of Ann Arbor, MI. As I said, it’s been a while.

It’s bluing under the cyrakote. Nothing wrong with the bluing, no pitting no rust. I just wanted a flat finish that would be impervious to the elements.

Sure..

On your very first post without introduction you list a rifle for sale without adequate information.

The pictured rifle does not verify it as a Custom Shop KS.

Your response #14622379 is worded improperly.

You may have a KS there but a Buyer Beware is certainly in order.

Did you also have the recoil pad replaced?? That doesn't look like a factory pad, also did you have the stock painted before it was coated? Who fluted the bolt?
Thanks - nice rifle by the way and a decent price.

Agreed; looks like a later generation supercell pad.

I have a very real question(s).....Why would someone send a KS stock (McBros or Brown) to B&C to get painted or coated? Or is this a later custom shop rifle with a B&C stock?

Please post PIC the left side of the barrel. Would help to see what is stamped there.

Thanks!

I’m not taking sides but typically you can tell a custom ship barreled Remington by the barrel contour at the barrel shank where it screws into the action. All of them I have ever seen on a Remington custom shop rifle including the ones I have Remington turns the step out of the barrel to make it one contour. The recoil pad looks just the same as my KS in 300 weatherby. You can see a picture of mine there in the image gallery since I’m not real sure how to post a link.

In my honest opinion who ever buys this rifle is getting a legit Remington 700 KS that has been altered to someone’s liking. And also in my opinion who ever did it had good taste. Nothing they did hurt the functionality of the rifle one bit

If the barrel is marked "Remington Custom Shop" the stock is probably a bell & Carson stock, I think Remington made the change about 10 years ago.

Remington 700 KS Mountain Rifle Custom Shop
Caliber: 30-06
Serial # B6759706
Barrel: 24”
Weight: 7-lb, 7-oz.
Built: 1986

Pad: Limbsaver pad was on the rifle when I purchased it. It is original to the Kevlar stock. (If you Google “Remington 700 KS Mountain Rifle” you will see plenty of images of 700KS rifles, with the same dull green stock and the same pad.

Stock: as is the case on all KS guns the stock was originally a dull green. I removed the action and painted in black with stock paint I bought from Brownells. I have always liked the feel of the rubberized finish on Bell & Carlson stocks so I sent the stock to them and ask them to coat the stock with that finish.

Metal: when I purchased the rifle the barrel and action where blue, as was the case with these rifles made in the mid-80’s. There was nothing wrong with it but I wanted a flatter finish that would be immune from the elements so I did some research and found a company here in Michigan that did it. I have gone back through threads on Accurate Reloading where I ask for recommendations but I can not find the company that did it. The fellow who did the coating also fluted the bolt.

Custom Shop: I called Remington and confirmed that the rifle did come out of the custom shop. Hopefully that will satisfy the armchair gun “experts” in the crowd. If not, feel free to call Remington at (800)243-9700, Option 7.

I bought the rifle and upgraded it as a one rifle for all occasions, a rifle that I would bet my life on. It is VERY accurate and carries easily. The trigger breaks clean, best trigger I have ever used. It’s not a rifle that I ever thought I would part with but a few years ago I bought a 700 Mountain Rifle in 7x57 and find it to be a perfect rifle for hunting east of the Mississippi and I have another rifle I am pursuing.

I will be happy to provide any additional details for the rifle but I’m not sure what else there is to tell.

Good additional info - and I didn't doubt your post but did have some questions. The person that did the fluting could be Karl Feldkamp @ Kampfeld Customs. Karl used to be out of Clinton, he is now in Idaho. Anyway, the flutes look like his, he also does 1st class Cerakote work.

Good luck on your sale, KS rifles are the best Remington ever built.

I believe that B&C coating is called Maxxguard. I have a 25-06, 7STW, and 300H&H with the same stock. They're great for our rainy November elk seasons.

I agree with this whole post. I honestly had never heard of anyone sending a stock to B&C for painting. Good luck with sale.

I doubted this was a KS as I have owned several and it did not appear correct to me. I have had two with serial numbers as it turns out very close to yours (the first serial # was 128 before yours) and they are 1986 builds on Brown stocks with different recoil pads than you have on your rifle. My stocks were/are painted gray.

The additional pictures show that your rifle is indeed a KS.

My skepticism was overdone.

Good luck with your sale.
